Introducing Nexa3D and Slice Engineering Partnership

Kristian Oftebro, who manages customer success for extrusion platforms at Nexa3D, shared insights into their recent partnership with Slice Engineering. Nexa3D is known for its open-source, high-speed 3D printing technology that delivers exceptional quality. The collaboration with Slice Engineering has been fruitful, integrating Slice's expertise into Nexa3D’s industrial systems.

Nexa3D's Technology Overview

Nexa3D offers three key technologies:

  • Laser-Based Sintering: For high-speed, high-quality results.
  • Extrusion Platforms: Featuring advancements like the Mosquito Magnum Plus hotend.
  • Desktop Printing: Known for versatility and precision.

Kristian highlighted the exciting developments in rapid turn molding using Nexa3D's X Mold material. This technology is opening new possibilities in molding and manufacturing.

The HSE 280i: Key Features

Ricky Ferrer, from Nexa3D’s customer success team, elaborated on the HSE 280i, a dual-head platform that builds upon the 180 model by adding an independent second head. This innovation allows for more flexibility in printing, supporting different materials and profiles with high-speed and high-temperature capabilities.

High-Temperature and High-Speed Printing

The HSE 280i can reach bed and chamber temperatures of up to 200°C and 150-180°C respectively. This feature is crucial for printing high-temperature materials and preventing warping.

Advantages of Independent Heads

The independent heads of the 280i provide significant benefits:

  • Dual Operation: Use two heads for different materials or as a single head.
  • Support Material: One head can print support material, enhancing print complexity and quality.
  • Copy Mode: Duplicate parts in a single print job.

Future updates may include independent mode, allowing for the printing of two different parts simultaneously.

Bed Leveling and Print Accuracy

The 280i features automatic bed leveling with a three-sensor system, which ensures a flat and level build surface. For larger prints, the machine can create a mesh of the bed and adjust for flatness, ensuring accurate and high-quality prints.

Application and Use Cases

The 280i is used in various industries, including automotive, where it has been employed to print cooling ducts for electric vehicles.

Additional Features

The 280i includes wipe stations for nozzle cleaning and calibration pins for aligning dual heads. It also features a build surface material known as G14, which provides excellent adhesion and is compatible with a range of filaments.

Hotend Integration with Slice Engineering

The collaboration between Nexa3D and Slice Engineering has led to the development of a high-performance hotend. This hotend supports a wide range of materials, from flexible filaments to high-temperature polymers like PEEK. The interchangeable brass tips make it easy to maintain and customize.
